The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America has become a
charity partner with the popular Marine Corp Marathon to raise funds to help
individuals affected by Multiple Sclerosis. Team MSAA has 25 slots to
participate in the Marine Corp Marathon and they want you to join their team!
This is a great way to get fit while contributing to an important cause. The Marine
Corp Marathon will be held on October 28, 2012 in Arlington, Virginia.
The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America is a national
nonprofit located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. They focus on a lot on programs
and services that offer direct support to individuals with MS today. Right now
MSAA is working on an initiative to get information into patient’s hands so
they can be better informed, know more about MS and the options out there for
treatments. They’ve even started a mobile phone application for a person to
track their MS called My MS Manager. MS is very complicated and individualized
for each person who has MS so their efforts are incredibly important. According
to Amanda Bednar of MSAA, “The MSAA wants to enrich the quality of life for
everybody affected by Multiple Sclerosis.” You can join them in this cause by
running the Marine Corp Marathon on Team MSAA.
The mission of the Marine Corp Marathon is to promote
fitness and community goodwill while showcasing the organizational skills of
the United States Marine Corp. The Marine Corp Marathon is the 5th
largest marathon in the United States and the 9th largest in the
world with over 30,000 runners. It attracts runners from all 50 states and over
50 different countries.
According to Bednar this charity partnership will be
incredibly beneficial to MSAA, “We found out we could pay a small fee to become
a charity partner with the Marine Corp Marathon and receive 25 slots in the
race. Each teammate will have to raise $1,000 so hopefully MSAA can raise a
total of $25,000.” This would make huge strides in the fight against Multiple
Sclerosis. This is a great opportunity for anybody to get fit, meet new people
and have a great time all while helping out an important cause!
